Valentine's eve was celebrated by driving to Chicago in prepartion for Daniel's Jeopardy audition and dinner/games at the ESPN Zone. Talk about sensory overload. Daniel had a blast.
Valentine's day itself started by waking up at The Drake hotel in Chicago. Fabulous hotel and to quote Daniel, "I am impressed". (Thank you Hotwire deal.)
After a hot chocolate and blueberry scone, which he was too keyed up to consume, we made our way around the corner to the Westin where the Jeopardy auditions were being held. Mind you, out of 10,000 kids, ages 10-12, that participated in the online test, 400 were selected for in person auditions in 5 different cities. Out of that pool of 400, 15 will be chosen to appear on the show.
Daniel won his round of mock Jeopardy (by a lot says the proud Mama) and had a blast. He came out of the audition grinning from ear to ear. And he has a souvenir Jeopardy pen and keychain to mark the occasion.
We left the Westin and made our way up Michigan Avenue with stops at Borders bookstore, the Lego store (where a Bionicle for both Daniel and Noah were purchased), and the Apple store (Daniel loooooves the computer).
We had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory and then returned home to a fantastic steak dinner prepared by Gary and presents for everyone to open.
What a great day and how blessed are we to have our fabulous family of four to celebrate Valentine's day!!
Playing on a computer at the Apple store. We came all the way to Chicago so he could play on a computer?!
Outside of the Lego store. The figures behind him are made entirely of Legos.
On Michigan Avenue.
At the Jeopardy audition with his souvenir pen and Polaroid they took.
