GOLF Athlete CRU Women's of the Week - Courtney Nelson
Courtney Nelson is a junior, who transferred here as a sophomore from Lon Morris College. She is a graduate of Aledo High School.
Courtney finished tied for 8th at The Alamo Classic hosted by Trinity University this past Monday & Tuesday at River Crossing Golf Club. She shot rounds of 86 & 80. Conditions were difficult on Monday with intermittent rain and wind. After taking an 11 on a hole to go 8 over after 4 holes played, Courtney played the remaining 14 holes just 6 over to finish with an 86. On Tuesday, she shot her season low 80 with 3 birdies (and birdied the hole she had made an 11 on the previous day!).
She currently leads the team with an 85.5 scoring average. Coach Darla Kirby adds: "I am really proud of her determination and her ability to stay focused after a rough start. Making an 11 is tough, but she fought back and played well throughout the rest of the tournament."
