Thursday, May 28, 2009 was Daniel's final day in elementary school. On August 19, he will take his first steps into middle school. Lamenting about that milestone will come at a later date.
Daniel made Mom very happy by taking the camera to school with him to capture some of those precious last moments.
The school held its annual awards ceremony and Daniel received (among about 10 other awards) the Gold Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. This honor was bestowed upon 4 students in his school.
On a nostalgic note, I felt the same sadness and joy as I did on Daniel's first day of kindergarten. Both are such significant transitions in one's life. While watching the boys grow up is such a joy, it brings sadness as they edge ever closer to becoming an adult. Time goes too fast.
Please enjoy the images from Daniel's perspective:
Daniel's books to read for pleasure he was apparently keeping at school
The student council receiving their awards (Daniel was the treasurer)

This video is of the 5th grade "clap out". The principal calls each 5th grader's name over the loudspeaker and they run through the halls where the other students are lined up to bid them adieu. A teacher was filming so there's a lot of video. Daniel runs through toward the end of the video.
